So I have been wanting to write this post for the longest now but didn’t feel prepared enough to write about such a simple yet very complicated topic..

I remember one day I was thinking to myself what the true meaning of christianity was. I wanted to have a simple phrase that I could remember everyday and to embody what it truly means to be a Christ follower. I believe that this phrase is “Be Love”, every time I see something I should obey in the Bible, or even just the simplest of stories, I feel like if you go back to the root it will always be love, love for God, love for others, and love for ourselves.

So here it is to what I believe are 5 meanings of Love that leads to an exemplified christian.

1.Our Mission is Love: Our mission here on earth is to make disciples and turn people to God. Matthew 28:19
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. The only way we can truly do this is by loving on others. No one is going to want to become a christian if all they see is someone that calls themselves a christian hate on everyone, walk around angry, treat people badly. etc.  People, especially nowadays just want to be loved. People are so hurt and unfortunately don’t know any better and turn to other things to fill that void. Jesus didn’t have to do much but show the love that overflowed in Him to everyone, and with that love He was able to change even the hardest of hearts.

2. Love is Selfless: Even though sacrificing most of the time is being selfless when we look at what Jesus was on this earth we can see that He was a completely selfless man. He didn’t put Himself first, He always cared for the needs of others and made sure His mission here on earth was fulfilled .He “made himself nothing” so that Gods plan in Him would prevail and that nothing here on earth could distract him from that plan. Philippians 2:5-8  I mean if we think about it, Im sure Jesus got tired of walking, got tired of not having a stable home, got tired of his disciples betraying him and not believing at times however, He put his personal issues aside so that others could hear the good news and be touched by Gods amazing power.

3. Love Sacrifices: From the very beginning Jesus died so we could life an abundant and amazing life with Him here on earth and in heaven. God sent his only son to die for us. He did it because He loved us so much that He didn’t want us to be without him and vice versa. He didn’t want us to live a life of misery, He sacrificed Himself just so we could be happy and so Jesus could be in our lives forever. That is true love, when you put others over your self no matter how difficult it may be. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13– Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

4. His Love Changes: Honestly If I didn’t know who I was in Christ, a daughter that is loved beyond what I can imagine. That I have a dad that gave up his life for me, that wants to be with me everyday, that will always give me the desires of my heart, that will always protect me and never forsake me in my time of need. I would go crazy! So imagine all the people out there that don’t know this! His love changes me, His love makes me want to be the best version of myself, His love makes me want to reach others and show them how great He is. It literally breaks my heart to know that so many people struggle with so many different things because they don’t know that Christ can help them through anything. The only way to reach those people is to show them the love that God has shown to us. If we truly call ourselves Christians our love should always be noticeable. Hence, John 4: 15-16 If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

5. Follow The Two Commandments of Love: Mark 12:30-31 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”

Love God with all of your heart- If we kept this in mind at all times, our lives would be forever changed.  We would always put God first, we wouldn’t do half the things we do because if we really loved God then we wouldn’t do anything that hurts him. Just like we don’t hurt people that we love on purpose. If we truly loved God with all of our hearts we would also love people just as much. God wants us to love on people just like He loves them and even though sometimes it is really hard to love people that have hurt us.. when we push through that anger and still love on them.. trust me, those people will be shocked and will wonder what is it that we have that they don’t.

So yes.. moral of the story is LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. There is not a more simple answer to change the world and to be the people God has called us to be. So just in your everyday life practice this little phrase, truly love and don’t hold back. I know that through each and every one of you that read this will be able to change someones lives.
