As many of you saw on my Instagram, I had a blast in San Miguel Allende! It was truly one of the prettiest place I have ever been to. The colors of the streets, all the cute restaurants, and the rustic hotel that my family and I stayed at were a few of the things that made me fall in love. // Como muchos de ustedes vieron en mi Instagram, me divertí mucho en San Miguel de Allende! Es realmente uno de los lugares más bonitos que he visto en mi vida. Los colores de las calles, todos los restaurantes, y nuestro hotel rústico son algunas razones por la que me enamorarme de este lugar.
The first place we went to when we arrived in San Miguel was our hotel, Living Spirit, which had a ranch inspired feeling to it with only eight rooms available. I loved it because it was about 15 minutes away from San Miguel, leaving us as the only ones there. Super peaceful. My uncle initiated this vacation to get some “rest” and spend some time with his family. Although, anyone that knows me knows, I do not rest; I like to explore and eat! So let’s just say his idea of being able to “rest” was out of the picture. If anything this vacation was adventurous and exciting rather than restful. // El primer lugar en el que llegamos fue a nuestro hotel Living Spirit, que era más como una hacienda con sólo ocho habitaciones disponibles. Como quedaba a 15 minutos de San Miguel donde todos los turistas se quedan, éramos los únicos en esta hacienda. Súper tranquilo. Mi tío inició este viaje con el fin de ocupar el resto de sus días de vacaciones y de “descanso”. Pero cualquiera que me conoce sabe, que yo no descanso. Me gusta explorar y comer! Así que digamos que su viaje fue más de aventuras que de descanso.
I didn’t want my uncle to hate me on the first day, so I let him take a mini nap before I surprised him with my plans for the rest of the day. First things first, I wanted to make sure we ate at this restaurant called La Posadita. I found this place on Pinterest (the only tour guide you need) through a picture of their famous tamarind margarita. Stopping here became a must. // Como no quería que mi tío me odiara el primer día, lo dejé que se tomara una mini siesta antes de asombrarlo con mis planes para el resto del día. Lo primero es lo primero, y quería asegurarme de poder comer en el restaurante La Posadita. Había visto fotos de este lugar en Pinterest (la única guía que necesitas) de su famosa margarita de tamarindo. Así que teniamos que parar aquí.
However, I wouldn’t recommend this place as a must to anyone visiting. I am positive there are better restaurants in San Miguel. We did have a great time though, mostly because of their amazing view. The food itself wasn’t anything out of the ordinary which is sad to a foodie like me. // Sin embargo, yo no recomendaría este lugar como un must para cualquier persona que visite, estoy seguro de que hay mejores restaurantes en San Miguel. A pesar de la comida no la pasamos agusto, sobre todo porque disfrutamos de su increíble vista. Pero la comida en sí no era nada fuera de lo normal. Lo que es triste para una foodie como yo.
On our second day I told my uncle all about these amazing hot springs I had also saw on Pinterest! Lol My uncle, in hopes of relaxing, drove about 20 minutes away from SM to visit. The place we went to was called Escondido Place, which translates to Hidden Place. It was a tad far away and in the middle of nowhere so the name was appropriate. I must say this spot is a MUST when visiting!// En nuestro segundo día, le dije a mi tío todo sobre estas sorprendentes aguas termales que había visto en Pinterest tambien! Mi tío con la esperanza de relajarse nos llevó, nadamas que estaba como a 20 minutos de SM. El lugar se llama Escondido Place. Estaba un poco lejos de todo y en medio de la nada por lo que el nombre era apropiado. Debo decir que este lugar es una visita obligada de visita a SM.
Now the price to enjoy these amazing hot springs is 120$ pesos which is about 7$ US dollars. Cheap right?! Since we went earlier in the day we were able to relax and enjoy the pools by ourselves. However, as the day went on we saw more people coming in, but we were glad we were pretty much done by then. I think a good time to visit this place is around 10-2 pm, anytime after that might be a little crowded.// Ahora el precio para disfrutar de estas aguas termales es de 120$ pesos, barato no ?! Como nos fuimos en la mañanita pudimos relajarnos y disfrutar de las albercas y jacuzzis sin un monton de gente. Sin embargo, unas horas despues vimos más gente entrar, pero para esa hora nosotros ya habias terminado nuestra visita. Creo que un buen lapso de tiempor para visitar es entre 10am a 2 pm, porque despues se llena y ya no puedes relajarte agusto.
The water did not smell bad at all, which I thought would because I remember going into a hot spring as a child and it literally smelled like poop. This place had 3 indoor looking jacuzzi type pools, which are like the one I am in in the above picture. One with these huge waterfalls had some serious pressure, so much that I couldn’t stand still under it! Lol So fragile.// Ahora el agua no olía mal, y yo pensé que si porque recuerdo ir a unas aguas termales cuando era niña y literalmente olía a caño. Este lugar tenía 3 alberquitas techadas tipo jacuzzi, y en una habia una cascada que tenían muchisima presión, tanta que no podía ponerme debajo de ella! Tan frágil yo. Haha
Every one knows swimming causes hunger, so food was next on my agenda! We headed back to SM to find some food!// Todo el mundo sabe que nadar causa hambre. Así que cuando dejamos las aguas termales, la comida estaba en mi agenda.
We stopped at this really good restaurant called Mamma Mia that I totally recommend! There was tons of choices on the menu and had an amazing rooftop where you could enjoy your meal at!// Nos paramos en un muy buen restaurante llamado Mamma Mia que les recomiendo mucho! Había un montón de opciones en el menú, y tenían una increíble zotea donde disfrutamos de nuestra comida.
Sadly, we were only able to stay in SM for 3 days. So on our very last day I finally gave in to ride the trolley, something my uncle wanted to do so bad. It seemed a tad boring to sit and ride around the city when you could enjoy it by foot! But I will say, it was enjoyable! I was also happy that it taught us all about SM and their awesome culture. What I was most happy about though was the fact that they showed us where the Rosewood Hotel was, which was where I wanted to eat before we left!// Por desgracia, sólo pudimos quedarnos en SM 3 días. Así que en nuestro último día finalmente cedí a subirme al turibus como le llamaba mi tío haha . Algo que mi tío quería desde que llegamos. Pero a mi se me hacia un poco aburrido nadamas sentarse y pasear por la ciudad cuando la puedes disfrutar a pie! Pero la verdad me gusto mucho el viajesito! Me gusto porque nos enseñaron todo sobre SM y su cultura. Pero lo que más me gusto, fue el hecho de que pasamos por el hotel Rosewood, que era donde quería comer antes de irnos!
Once our trolley ride ended we headed straight to the Rosewood Hotel to enjoy a goodbye meal. // Cuando termino nuestro paseo lo primero que hicimos fue dirigirnos directamente a la Hotel Rosewood para disfrutar de nuestra comida de despedida.
The scenery WAS AMAZING!! I honestly wanted to enjoy it at night from pictures I had saw, but it was still pretty breathtaking during the day. I believe the Rosewood Hotel is also the most expensive hotel in all of SM, costing 500$ a night for the average room. LOL One day Jesus, One day. So this place was quite the fancy spot to be at! // El paisaje estaba increíble!! Sinceramente, quería disfrutar de ella en la noche porquehabía visto fotos, pero aún así era bastante impresionante durante el día. Creo que el Hotel Rosewood es también el hotel más caro de todos SM, con un costo de 500$ dolares por noche en la habitación más sencilla. Haha Un día, un día podre. Así que este lugar era bastante lujoso!
I wasn’t very hungry due to the huge breakfast we had back at the hotel, but I had been craving churros while we were there. So when I saw these suckers on the menu, I couldn’t resist! They became irresistible when i saw they were accompanied by a Chocolate Abuelita sauce and a scoop of ice cream. GUYS, these were the best churros I have ever had in my life. Now as a mexican that says a lot because there is literally churros in every corner, but I promise I am not exaggerating. They were so delicate and not too doughy like most churros are. // Yo no tenía mucha hambre porque habiamos desayunado un buen en el hotel, pero desde que llegamos se me antojaban unos churros. Así que cuando vi que estaban en el menú, no me pude resistir, especialmente cuando se acompañaba de una salsa de chocolate Abuelita, y una bola de helado. CHICOS, éstos han sido los mejores churros que he comido en mi vida. Ahora como mexicana eso dice mucho porque hay literalmente churros en cada esquina, pero prometo que no estoy exagerando. Estaban tan delicados y no demasiado mazosos como la mayoría de los churros de hoy.
I can totally say my uncle and I had so much fun in SM, so much that he decided to actually buy a house in this beautiful city. So for my next trip, who’s down to come? XOXO// Puedo decir que mi tío y yo nos divertimos mucho en SM, tanto que decidió comprar en una casa en esta hermosa ciudad. Así que para mi próximo viaje, quien me quiere acompañar? XOXO
